Santa Ana Police Officer’s Patrol Car and Another Vehicle Collide

A patrol car driven by a Santa Ana police officer collided with another vehicle Monday, prompting a police investigation.

The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. at Civic Center Drive and Main Street, Santa Ana police Cmdr. M. Moreno said.

The officer was hospitalized with stable vital signs, Santa Ana police Corporal Anthony Bertagna said. The status of the other driver was not immediately reported.

A news videographer at the scene said that while the police officer was taken to a hospital, the driver of the other vehicle was seen sitting on a curb.

The intersection was shut down for the police investigation and was reopened about 5 a.m., police said.
