by Contributing Editor

A 20-year-old man sustained a non-life-threatening wound to a leg in a possible gang-related shooting early Thursday in Placentia.

Officers responded to the 200 block of Backs Lane, between Placentia Avenue and Kraemer Boulevard, about 12:40 a.m. and found the victim, who was uncooperative and refused to provide police with information on the shooting, according to Detective Sgt. Chris Anderson of the Placentia Police Department.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was expected to survive, Anderson said.

The name of the wounded man was not disclosed.

Detectives investigated the shooting as a gang crime and anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call police at 714-993-8146.

Anonymous tips can be called in to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-847-6227 or submitted online at occrimestoppers.org.
