The crash occurred in the 1700 block of Aviation Boulevard, south of Artesia Boulevard, at 12:05 a.m., according to Lt. Shawn Freeman of the Redondo Beach Police Department.
A preliminary investigation determined both riders were traveling southbound on Aviation Boulevard when, according to witnesses, one of the motorcyclists possibly hit a curb, then struck the other rider, Freeman said.
Both motorcyclists sustained significant injuries as a result of the crash and were taken to a hospital, where one of the riders died, Freeman said.
The cause of the crash was under investigation and anyone with information was asked to contact Investigator Clint Daniel at 310-379-2477, ext 2721 or via email at clint.daniel@Redondo.org.
