Police arrested a 37-year-old arson suspect after he was spotted pouring gasoline over several cars and lighting them in Bell Gardens.
The incident in the 6400 block of Ira Avenue started about 7:05 a.m., when a man later identified as Eddie Arevalo was seen pouring gas on cars and lighting them, Bell Gardens police Lt. Ruben Musquiz said.
Arevalo ran south on Ira and east on Loveland Street after allegedly starting the car fires, Musquiz said.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the flames, he said.
Officers searched the area and found Arevalo in a shed to rear of a property on Loveland, he said.
Arevalo was booked on arson charges and held on $160,000 bail, according to jail records. He’s currently scheduled to head to court in Downey on Tuesday.
