A pedestrian who may have intentionally run in front of a big rig on Interstate 10 near Cabazon, which subsequently fatally struck him, was identified Thursday as a 22-year-old Los Angeles man.
Jack Fisher suffered fatal injuries about 3:35 a.m. Wednesday and was pronounced dead at the scene about 20 minutes later on eastbound I-10, west of the Haugen-Lehmann Way exit, according to Riverside County coroner’s officials.
California Highway Patrol Officer Matt Napier said the CHP is investigating the death as a possible suicide based on reports from the trucker and several witnesses that the victim appeared to have intentionally gotten in front of the tractor-trailer, whose driver was uninjured.
The investigation into the crash prompted the closure of all eastbound lanes of the freeway at Main Street until about 7:30 a.m. that morning.
Additional information was not provided.
