Beverly Hills PD Gets $92,000 Traffic Safety Grant

The Beverly Hills Police Department has scored $92,000 toward its efforts to improve safety on city roads.

The California Office of Traffic Safety grant, issued for the 2021 fiscal year, will assist officers in tacking DUI drivers, raising awareness about distracted driving and reducing collisions with cyclists and pedestrians, among other areas of focus, according to police.

“These are trying times, and now more than ever, it is important that we are at the forefront of traffic safety,” BHPD Chief Dominick Rivetti said. “This funding allows us to educate and enhance the safety of all residents.”

The money will also go toward patrols watching for speeders, people who don’t yield properly, motorists who don’t obey traffic signals and people who make lane changes incorrectly.

The department also expects to fund community presentations that highlight distracted driving, the realities of driving under the influence of intoxicating substances, and the impact of speeding through city streets, officials said.
