Palm Springs Police Seek Public Help in Locating Stolen SUV Suspect

Palm Springs police sought public help Thursday to identify and find a motorist who escaped after leading officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen SUV that crashed into a home.
Police were alerted Wednesday about 8:30 p.m. that a Volkswagon SUV reported stolen in Rancho Mirage was in the 3600 block of Ramon Road in Palm Springs, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.
Officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but the driver sped away before crashing the vehicle into a home in the area of East Mesquite Avenue and Desert Way and fleeing on foot, police said.
Despite the assistance of a police helicopter, the suspect got away.
No suspect description was provided.
Palm Springs police are asking residents living in the 700-900 block of Desert Way, along with the area of East Mesquite Avenue and Desert Way, to review any surveillance footage they may have.
