Fight, Shooting Caught on Video in an Eastvale Park Leads to One Arrest

by Contributing Editor

A young man accused in a fight that led to a shooting in an Eastvale park that was captured on video and circulated on social media was out of custody Friday on $25,000 bail.

Alprentice Caleb Young, 18, of Eastvale was arrested Wednesday and booked at the Riverside jail on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and carrying a loaded firearm, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Raul Armendariz.

The arrest stemmed from video footage of the June 1 melee at Harada Heritage Park that began making the rounds on social media “within the past couple of days,” Armendariz said.

“The video clearly depicts numerous male and female adults engaged in a physical altercation, which ended up in a shooting with one person shot (and) suffering a non-life-threatening injury,” Armendariz said.

Investigators pinpointed Young as a suspect, and sheriff’s deputies saw him driving on Wednesday and pulled him over, the sergeant said. When searching his car, deputies found a loaded gun inside, Armendariz alleged.

Two search warrants were subsequently executed in the 13500 block of Gray Hawk Court and the 6500 block of Acey Street, both in Eastvale, where deputies seized a gun and “evidence related to the shooting,” the sergeant said.

Young, who has no documented felony convictions in Riverside County, has an Oct. 19 scheduled court date at the Riverside Hall of Justice.

Sheriff’s deputies are still searching for additional suspects and asked anyone with information to contact Deputy Parham at 951-955-2600.
