Montebello Man Sentenced for Girlfriend’s Murder

by Contributing Editor

A Montebello man has been sentenced to 25 years to life behind bars for killing his girlfriend in a Baldwin Park motel room, where her body was discovered nearly a week later.

Nicolas Figueroa Manos, 34, was convicted nearly a year ago of first-degree murder for the death of 19-year-old Nancy Ester Mederos, whose body was found on June 30, 2017, when police were called to get the occupants out of the motel room, according to Deputy District Attorney Brendan Gibson.

He said Manos was in bed and the young woman was found on her back on the floor just outside the bathroom.

She had been dead for six days and died of blunt force trauma and other undetermined factors, according to coroner’s records.

Manos was arrested the following day by Baldwin Park police and has remained in jail since then.

He was sentenced Monday in a Pomona courtroom, according to Ricardo Santiago of the District Attorney’s Office.
