More than 1,000 customers briefly without power in Van Nuys

More than 1,000 customers were without power in Van Nuys for several hours on Saturday evening, officials said.

The outage was reported in the area of Vose Street and Sepulveda Boulevard about 6:45 p.m., according to a Los Angeles Department of Water and Power outage map.

Though crews were quickly able to restore power for more than half of the affected customers, about 460 customers were still without power as of 9 p.m. with an estimated restoration time of 1:30 a.m., LADWP said.

Christy Holland, a spokeswoman for the department, did not immediately know what caused the outage.

LADWP, along with Southern California Edison, said in March they would postpone all non-critical planned power outages, as public officials began to instruct residents to stay home to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.
