by Contributing Editor

A Silver Alert was issued Friday evening in Los Angeles County for a 60-year-old man with dementia who was last seen in Lynwood.

Bruce Eugene Douglas, of Lynwood, was last seen Thursday about 9 a.m. near the 11200 block of Wright Road, near Beechwood Avenue, according to Deputy James Nagao of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

He was wearing a white shirt and dark sweatpants, Nagao said.

Douglas is described as black, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 170 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes, according to Nagao.

Authorities circulated a photo of Douglas and encouraged anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the sheriff’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500. Those wishing to report anonymously can call 800-222-TIPS or go to lacrimestoppers.org/.

The purpose of the Silver Alert program is to establish a quick response system designed to issue and coordinate alerts following the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of an elderly person, or a person who is developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired, according to the California Highway Patrol.
