Little Change to Southland Gas Prices

by Contributing Editor

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped one-tenth of a cent Tuesday to $3.602, one day after decreasing three-tenths of a cent.

The average price is one-tenth of a cent less than one week ago and 8.2 cents lower than one month ago but 29.9 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price dropped two-tenths of a cent to $3.548, one day after decreasing a half-cent. It is 1.2 cents more than one week ago and 28.5 cents higher than one year ago but 5.4 cents less than one month ago.

“Gas prices appear to be at a standstill locally,” Marie Montgomery, a public relations specialist with the Automobile Club of Southern California, told City News Service.

“The Marathon refinery in Carson reported additional unplanned flaring over the weekend, which could produce some additional upward pressure on gas prices in coming days depending on how much production was disrupted. That’s the same refinery that caused a slight uptick in prices last week with unplanned flaring.”
