Police arrested a man and a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of a Boyle Heights killing after a standoff in Rowland Heights on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Police and deputies were searching for a felony suspect in the area of 1500 Jellick Avenue, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said in a Tweet Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

At least one man refused to surrender for several hours after law enforcement officers responded, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im said Sunday. The barricaded man, along with one other person, were ultimately arrested at about 3 p.m.

Joshua Gomez, 23, and a 16-year-old were taken into custody in connection with a fatal shooting that happened Friday night, Nov. 8, near the intersection of Evergreen and Wabash Avenues in the Boyle Heights area of Los Angeles, Im said.

Nearby officers conducting a traffic stop heard several gunshots at about 11:54 p.m, police said. Two suspects were scene fleeing the area, while Ricardo Ramirez, 17, was later pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

Gomez remained in custody Sunday in lieu of $1 million bail, inmate records showed. Authorities did not immediately identify the minor who was arrested.
