Fugitive Identity Theft Suspect Arrested Downtown

A woman described as a prolific identity theft suspect has been taken into custody after failing to appear for trial, police said Tuesday.

A felony bench warrant was issued for Suppatra Tansuvit, 24, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police came close to catching her in July when she was spotted getting into a high-end sports car driven by her boyfriend Robert Carasquillo and a high-speed pursuit ensued, police said.

Carasquillo was arrested at the end of the pursuit on suspicion of felony evading but Tansuvit got out during the pursuit when the patrol units, in the interests of public safety, went into tracking mode and fled on foot, police said.

Detectives from the Commercial Crimes Division’s Due Diligence Unit resumed their surveillance and arrested Tansuvit on Aug. 14 outside of her residence near the 1000 block of Wilshire Boulevard, police said.

A search of her residence uncovered evidence including a credit card mill and identity theft making equipment, police said.

Tansuvit had nearly $5,000 in cash on her person when she was arrested, police said.

Tansuvit was placed on a probation hold without bail.

Carasquillo failed to appear in court on the felony evading charge after posting bail, police said.
