Ex-Building Inspector Pleads No Contest to Secret Bathroom Recordings

A former Rancho Palos Verdes city building inspector pleaded no contest Tuesday to 13 misdemeanor charges for secretly recording people in a City Hall bathroom and a nearby coffee house.
Andrew James Jensen, 50, of Huntington Beach, was immediately sentenced to two years in county jail, 45 days of community labor, 52 weeks of sexual impulse classes and three years probation following his plea to 13 counts of unauthorized invasion of privacy, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Jensen will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
When the case was filed last year, prosecutors said Jensen used a hidden camera to secretly record 63 women and 26 men.
A Rancho Palos Verdes city employee discovered the miniature camera in a unisex employee restroom July 5, 2018, according to a statement released last summer by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
“A police report was filed and Lomita Station initiated a criminal investigation. It was determined that Jensen, who was a Rancho Palos Verdes building inspector, allegedly secreted the camera in the restroom at City Hall, and at a nearby local business,” according to the statement.
