Man Fatally Wounded In Shooting in Pomona

A man was killed in a shooting Pomona police believe was drug and/or gang related, and the assailant remained at large Saturday.

The shooting was reported about 7:35 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of East Pasadena Street, east of Clark Avenue, according to the Pomona Police Department.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he died, police said.

Pomona police Chief Michael Olivieri tweeted about 10 p.m. Friday that a preliminary investigation determined “the incident may be drug and/or gang related.”

No information on a possible suspect was immediately available.

The department’s Major Crimes Task Force and Homicide Detectives were investigating the shooting, according to Olivieri.
