Beaumont Murder-Suicide Claims Three People, Police Say

by Contributing Editor

Three people died in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide at a home in Beaumont, police said Saturday.

Officers discovered the grisly scene after responding to several reports of gunshots at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the 34000 block of Crenshaw Street, according to the Beaumont Police Department.

When police pulled up to the location, they found a woman lying in the driveway of a home suffering from a gunshot wound, authorities said.

A neighbor told ABC7 she heard three or four gunshots.

“I had my husband go outside to check and he … saw the lady lying down, covered in blood,” Zarah Bernales told the station.

Officers secured the scene and requested the assistance of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department’s SWAT team, which helped Beaumont police search the home. When officers entered the home, they found two more people — a man and a woman — who had sustained gunshot wounds.

All three people died before officers had arrived, police said.

Based on preliminary evidence, investigators said they believed the fatal shooting was a murder-suicide, but no further information was immediately released.
