Actor Danny Trejo helped rescue a baby strapped into a child seat in an SUV that overturned in a collision with another vehicle Wednesday, Aug. 7, in Sylmar.
The crash occurred in the area of Hubbard Street and Jackman Avenue around 3 p.m., Los Angeles Police Officer Matthew Heinzman said.
KABC-TV reported that Trejo and a woman, also a bystander, helped free the child, with the woman unbuckling the safety belt and Trejo reaching in to pull the child out.
Paramedics were called to the scene about a reported entrapment, said Margaret Stewart, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department. When crews arrived, they found the patients had already been freed.
Three people were transported to the hospital, Stewart said. None had life-threatening injuries.
“Everything good that has happened to me has happened as a direct result of helping someone else. Everything,” Trejo told KABC-TV.
Trejo is a prolific movie and television actor and restaurateur known for such films as “Machete” and “Grindhouse.”
