Man Pleads Guilty to Exposing Himself at OCC

by Contributing Editor

A 23-year-old San Bernardino man has pleaded guilty to exposing himself on the Orange Coast College campus near the children’s center and was sentenced to time he has already served in jail.

Sungyoun Jung pleaded guilty Friday at the West Justice Center in Westminster to single misdemeanor counts each of lewd conduct in a public place, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sentenced to 76 days in jail, which he had already served, and was placed on three years of informal probation.

Jung was also ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Campus security personnel responded at 9:05 a.m. June 19 to a report of a suspicious man near the campus E Lot, according to Costa Mesa Police Department spokeswoman Roxi Fyad, and found the suspect hiding in bushes and peering over a wall of the children’s center while exposing himself.

As security guards tried to subdue the suspect, he became “combative,” according to police, who were summoned to the scene to arrest him. The college’s Early Childhood Lab School and the OCC Children’s Center were placed on a brief lockdown during the incident, Fyad said.

Jung is not a student at OCC, she said.

In April, Jung was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He pleaded guilty to that as well on Friday and was sentenced to time already served in jail and has been released.
