Man Suspected of Firing Handgun in Glendale Jailed

A 32-year-old man was jailed Friday after his arrest for allegedly firing a handgun in an alley in Glendale, police said.
A witness reported that a man wearing an orange safety vest had fired one round from a handgun about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday in an alley in the 100 block of Louise Street, Glendale Police Department spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot said.
“The witness saw the male smile, place the gun back into his waistband and continue walking,” Lightfoot said. “The witness picked up the shell casing and followed the male to a parking lot where he saw him sitting in the trunk area of a vehicle.”
The witness directed officers to the suspect, later identified as Agustin Reyeshurtado of Sylmar, who was detained pending further investigation, Lightfoot said.
“A search of the vehicle revealed a black .40-caliber Glock handgun and a magazine containing five rounds in the center console,” she said. “Two additional rounds were located in the vehicle as well as an empty shell casing.”
Reyeshurtado was arrested and booked on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm, Lightfoot said. The controlled substance he allegedly possessed was not specified.
Reyeshurtado was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to sheriff’s inmate jail records.
