Arrest Made in Anaheim Killing of Local Drummer

by Contributing Editor

A murder charge was filed Friday against a 34-year-old man accused of fatally beating a local musician, who was found dead in an Anaheim cul-de-sac.

Arthur Fenwick Williams, of Santa Ana, was arrested at an area hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Anaheim police described him as an acquaintance of the victim, 48-year-old David Patrick McCabe, but did not elaborate or release a possible motive for the crime.

McCabe was a drummer for the local punk rock band Knightenders.

Williams, who’s being held without bail, made his initial appearance Friday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana, but did not enter a plea. His arraignment was rescheduled for Aug. 9.

Officers dispatched at 2:55 a.m. last Saturday to the 1500 block of West Center Street by a passerby discovered McCabe, of Dana Point, suffering from “injuries consistent with blunt force trauma,” Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.

Police said McCabe’s car was stolen after the killing, and it still has not been recovered. Detectives urged anyone who sees the car — a gray 2013 Toyota Corolla four-door sedan, California plate 6YSH330 — to contact police.
