by Contributing Editor

One person was killed and two others injured Thursday morning when a vehicle slammed into a concrete pole in the Mount Washington area of Los Angeles.

Paramedics and firefighters responded to the 3800 block of North Figueroa Street near Pasadena Avenue about 2:05 a.m. and located the vehicle with three people trapped inside, according to Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Firefighters freed the trapped patients from the vehicle, Prange said.

One of the patients was pronounced dead at the scene and two others, a man and woman, were taken to a hospital in unknown condition, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

The age, gender and name of the person killed were not disclosed.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
