Dickinson Proclaims Victory in Long-Running Legal Battle With Bill Cosby

by Contributing Editor

Former supermodel Janice Dickinson declared victory Thursday in her long-running defamation lawsuit against Bill Cosby, announcing she has reached a settlement arranged by the jailed comedian’s insurance company.

Dickinson, 64, is one of dozens of women who have accused Cosby of sexual assault. She sued Cosby in May 2014, saying she had been re-victimized and her reputation had suffered because of comments made by Cosby’s former lawyer denying her allegations that the comedian drugged and raped her in a Lake Tahoe hotel room more than 30 years ago.

Terms of the settlement, reached with insurance company AIG, were not released.

“Truthfully, a settlement is a victory and certainly a measure of justice and helps me sleep better,” Dickinson told reporters at the Woodland Hills office of her attorney, Lisa Bloom. “But in reality, nothing can ever erase the experience and memories of an assault. Jail is where he belongs.”

Bloom called the settlement a “final, major legal victory” for Dickinson.

A spokesman for Cosby told TMZ.com the insurance company settled the suit over Cosby’s objections. Andrew Wyatt told the website the comedian continues to believe the lawsuit had no merit.

Cosby is serving up to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee, in January 2004 after plying her with drugs and wine.
