The sound and power of the explosion that leveled a Murrieta house and killed a man were captured in a neighbor’s security video that has surfaced.
The video, obtained by ABC7, shows the neighbor’s porch being damaged and a cloud of debris.
A SoCalGas company employee, 31-year-old Wade Kilpatrick of Murrieta, died in the July 15 explosion at Spinning Wheel Drive and Wooden Horse Trail. Fourteen others were injured.
It appears the home’s natural-gas service line was damaged by contractors preparing to install solar panels at the home, SoCalGas spokesman Randon Lane has said. The leaking gas was then somehow ignited.
Four homes were red-tagged as uninhabitable, and 26 others were damaged.
