‘Heavy fire’ hits mini-mall on Corbin Avenue in Winnetka

by Steven Rosenberg

Los Angeles firefighters at the scene Friday morning reported ‘heavy fire’ in a unit at a Winnetka mini-mall, where they were forced to operate in a defensive mode as the vacant structure burned.

Firefighters responded at 6:52 a.m. to 7231 Corbin Ave., just north of Sherman Way, and found the single-story commercial building with heavy fire, said LAFD spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

It took 86 firefighters 30 minutes to knock down the blaze, she said.
