Small brush fire knocked down in Granada Hills

GRANADA HILLS — Firefighters made quick work Wednesday of a brush fire that scorched about an acre of grass in Granada Hills.

The non-injury blaze was reported about 11:15 a.m. near 11800 Shoshone Ave., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Three dozen firefighters extinguished the flames in 22 minutes, LAFD spokesman Nicholas Prange said. Ground crews planned to remain at the scene for several hours to guard against flare-ups, he said.

There was no immediate word on what sparked the flames, which did not threaten any structures.
