Three Shot at South Los Angeles Party

by Contributing Editor

Three men are recovering Sunday after being shot at a party in South Los Angeles early Sunday morning, authorities said.

Police responded at 12:42 a.m. to reports of gunfire at a party with about 100 attendees in the 1200 block of East 108th Street, according to Sgt. Darcy Cornwell, the watch commander on duty at the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Station.

“When we got there, we observed three victims shot,” Cornwell said.

Three Los Angeles Fire Department ambulances were dispatched to the scene, but the victims took off in private cars instead, she said.

Police tracked one man down at Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital. He’d been shot in his right elbow, according to Cornwell.

Another man was located at St. Francis Medical Center with an injured left knee, she said.

But police haven’t been able to find the third man, who police had previously observed with a gunshot wound to the hand.

The victims have been “super uncooperative,” Cornwell added.

Investigators recovered 9mm shell casings from the party.
