LA doctor charged with 4 counts of sexual battery

by City News Service

LOS ANGELES — A Los Angeles doctor pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of sexually assaulting several women on separate occasions dating back to 2016.

Anshul Gandhi, 34, is facing four felony counts of sexual battery and faces a possible maximum sentence of seven years in state prison if convicted as charged, according to Deputy District Attorney Melissa Lyons of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Sex Crimes Division.

Gandhi was ordered to appear in court Sept. 18, when a date is expected to be set for a preliminary hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial.

Gandhi is accused of sexually assaulting a 36-year-old woman at his Los Angeles apartment in October 2016. Two months later, Gandhi allegedly sexually assaulted a 31-year-old woman at his apartment following a holiday party.

In July 2018, Gandhi is accused of committing another sexual assault after bringing a 27-year-old woman to his apartment. He also allegedly sexually assaulted a 31-year-old colleague last December, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
