LOS ANGELES — A woman who was shot and wounded by Los Angeles police after she allegedly fatally stabbed a woman in her 80s in the Larchmont area of Los Angeles was in custody Tuesday on $2 million bail, authorities said.

Officers went to the 600 block of North Wilton Place about 9:25 p.m. Sunday on a report of a woman stabbing another woman, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“Upon the officers’ arrival, they were directed by several citizens to the front porch of a residence on Wilton Place,” an LAPD statement said.

“As the officers approached the location, they observed the victim on the ground, appearing to be unresponsive, with the suspect — who was identified as 28-year-old Sandra Ochoa — on top of the victim stabbing her,” police said.

“The officers ordered Ochoa to stop, but she continued to stab the unconscious victim, which precipitated an officer-involved-shooting,” police said. “Ochoa then dropped the weapon and started to walk into her apartment, where she was taken into custody.”

The victim died at the scene, according to police, who did not disclose the suspect’s relationship, if any, to the victim or offer a motive for the attack.

“Ochoa was struck by gunfire and was transported by the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital where she received medical treatment and was released for booking,” police said.

No officers were hurt. A bloody pen and bloody scissors were located at scene and recovered as evidence, police said.
