A man killed in a shooting in the unincorporated Florence-Firestone area near South Los Angeles was homeless, authorities said Monday.
Humberto Duenas was 39, according to the coroner’s office.
Deputies responded to a call of shots fired in a largely industrial area of Wilmington Avenue and 65th Street at 10:10 p.m. Friday and found the victim in the road suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A description of the suspect was not immediately available and a weapon was not recovered, Crowder said.
The shooting does not appear to be gang-related, he said.
Anyone with information was asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
