by Contributing Editor

A confrontation between a suspect and sheriff’s deputies in Wildomar Tuesday culminated in gunfire, but no injuries.

The deputy-involved shooting happened shortly before 10 a.m. in the area of Orange and Waite streets, just east of Interstate 15, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputy Robyn Flores said that during an encounter with a man, a deputy opened fire, but further details were not immediately available.

Flores told City News Service that the suspect fled the area in an unknown direction. A search was underway.

The deputy was uninjured.

A description of the suspect was not provided.
