A 15-year-old boy is back with family Thursday after being arrested for possession of a loaded firearm.
Deputies responded to the scene of a minor traffic collision about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of West Clarion Drive near Vermont Avenue, according to Lt. Andrew Cruz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Carson Station.
The teenager allegedly tried to leave the area, but stayed at the scene when people in his party told him not to leave, Cruz said.
Deputies found the gun in the area of the car where he was sitting and arrested him for possession of a loaded firearm, he said.
Authorities released the teen to his parents’ custody, he said.
The Carson Station said on Twitter that its deputies have made “numerous” firearm-related arrests during the past week.
