Man Fatally Shot in Southcrest

A shooting in a Southcrest-area neighborhood left a man dead Wednesday.
Patrol officers responding to a report of a possible traffic accident shortly before noon found the victim mortally wounded by gunfire in the 4000 block of Boston Avenue, according to San Diego police.
The victim, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene, and homicide detectives were called in to take charge of the investigation, Sgt. Matt Botkin said.
The circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear. As of early afternoon, there were no reports of arrests in the case.
