Quinceanera Dance Coach Gets Year in Jail for Molestation

by Contributing Editor

A dance instructor who coached teenagers for quinceanera celebrations pleaded guilty to felony child molestation charges Friday and was immediately sentenced to a year in jail.

Jesus Alamilla Caballero, 47, of Santa Ana, pleaded guilty to four counts of lewd acts on a child ages 14 or 15 and a count of sexual battery, all felonies, as well as single misdemeanor counts each of touching an intimate part of another person and battery.

Caballero, who was arrested May 17, may have enough credits for time served to be released Friday.

In May, Caballero was charged with sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student in the city of Orange.

He sexually assaulted the 14-year-old boy after driving him home from quinceanera dance lessons, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. The boy later told his mother, who called police.

Detectives in Orange subsequently brought evidence to prosecutors of four additional victims, said Sgt. Phil McMullin of the Orange Police Department.

It wasn’t clear if Caballero pleaded guilty to molesting multiple victims. Messages left with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office were not immediately returned.
