Garden Grove Pharmacy Robbed; Suspects at Large

by Contributing Editor

Five robbery suspects stole cash and prescription drugs from a Walgreens pharmacy Friday and led police on a chase that literally flamed out when the engine of their getaway car caught fire, but they still managed to escape.

One of the suspects flashed a firearm during the 4:10 a.m. robbery at 12001 Euclid St., according to Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney.

The robbers jumped over the counter of the 24-hour pharmacy, grabbing codeine, cash and other medications, he said.

Police spotted their getaway car as it left the store’s parking lot and gave chase. The vehicle’s engine caught fire at Euclid and Cerritos streets in Anaheim and the suspects bailed out and ran away on foot, Whitney said.

A search of the area did not lead to any arrests, but investigators found a gun and cell phones that the robbers left behind, Whitneysaid.
