Felon Arrested for Allegedly Pulling Gun, Threatening Negative Yelp Reviewer

by Contributing Editor

A convicted felon was in custody Friday for threatening a negative Yelp reviewer with a gun, authorities said.

Indio police on Thursday responded to reports of a man brandishing a firearm and making criminal threats, and went with a search warrant to the Andorra Apartments at 81720 Avenue 46, where they stopped Roy Andrew Becerra, 26, outside his apartment and walking to his car, said Administrative Officer Ben Guieron.

Becerra allegedly had in his possession a loaded 9mm handgun he was legally not permitted to carry, and during a search of his home, police found a loaded .357 handgun, which he was legally allowed to keep there, Guieron said.

He is believed to have threatened a man for giving his auto body business a negative review on Yelp and was arrested for allegations of committing a felony while out on bail/release, being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition and probation violation, Guieron said.

Becerra’s felony record was not immediately made available. He is being held at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on $50,000 bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Larson Justice Center in Indio Nov. 25.
