Peeping Incidents Under Investigation in Long Beach

by Contributing Editor

Police in Long Beach Thursday sought the public’s help in identifying a suspect or suspects who peeped into women’s homes.

Incidents involving a man looking into windows were reported at various times between 9:50 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. between Jan. 21 and Monday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The victims were between 20 and 43 years old, police said.

Incidents occurred about 1:25 a.m. on July 10, about 1:45 a.m. on October 23, and about 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. on Monday — all in the area of Bellflower Boulevard to Park Avenue and Stearns Street to Pacific Coast Highway, police said.

“Another incident occurred on Jan. 21, 2019 at approximately 9:50 p.m. in the area of Lakewood Boulevard and East Carson Street,” according to a police statement.

In most of the cases, a suspect has approached an exposed window and after looking inside made a comment about the victim’s physical appearance before fleeing on foot, police said.

“Due to the similarities in these incidents, we believe the same suspect or suspects may be involved,” police said.

No suspect description has been made available.

Police say they have deployed additional patrols to the impacted areas and urge anyone with information about these or similar incidents to contact the LBPD’s Sex Crimes Detail at 562-570-7368.

Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS or lacrimestoppers.org.
