Evacuations underway as brush fire in Calabasas/Hidden Hills area shuts down 101 Freeway

by Elizabeth Chou

The 101 Freeway is being shut down as county firefighters respond to a brush fire in the Calabasas area that authorities say is threatening structures in Hidden Hills.

Residents of that city, in the area of Las Virgenes and the 101 Freeway, were being asked to prepare for evacuation and to check the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Twitter feed for  updates.

As of about 10:45 a.m., the Mureau fire, which started near Mureau Road and Mountain View Drive, had chewed through five acres.

Road closures are Calabasas Road to Parkway Calabasas, and Mureau Road between Las Virgenes and Round Meadow.

There are road closures in the area, including parts of Calabasas Road and Mureau Road, according to the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
