Fire burns 200 acres of brush in Canyon Country; structures threatened

by City News Service

Firefighters worked Thursday afternoon to extinguish a fire that had scorched about 200 acres of brush in the Canyon Country area of northwestern Los Angeles County.

The fire was reported early Thursday afternoon near the 31600 block of Tick Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Some structures were threatened, and a third-alarm assignment was deployed, with additional firefighters assigned for structure protection.

The blaze sparked on a day of extreme fire danger in Southern California, as a scorching late October heat wave combined with erratic Santa Ana winds across the region.
