Crews rushed to a fire in the Angeles National Forest with the potential to burn dozens of acres north of Altadena on Sunday, Sept. 22.
Flames were reported near the Loma Alta and Chaney Trails, and had scorched about 10 acres by 4:30 p.m., Angeles National Forest Service officials said in a tweet. The blaze had the potential to burn as much as 100 acres of forest land.

The forest later commented on Twitter: “Per incident commander, the majority of the forward progress has been stopped. Resources are continuing to build containment line and suppress remaining active flame.”
It was not immediately clear if any structures were threatened.
Social media posts showed crews were attacking the fire with aircraft and that the smoke was widely visible.

Looks like a fire in the mountains seen from the Dodger game. Not sure exactly where that is… maybe above Altadena? pic.twitter.com/NAZDMpOqmE
