Shoppers Flee Culver City Mall After Store Window Broken in Fight

Shoppers in droves fled the Westfield Culver City Mall Saturday after one business’s window was shattered in a fight and they thought it was due to a gunshot, authorities said.
It happened about 6 p.m. at the mall at 6000 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City police Lt. L. Martinez said.
Officers responded to a call of shots fired but quickly determined no shots were fired, Martinez said.
“A fight resulted in a plate glass window being shattered,” he said. The business involved was the Foot Locker shoe store.
“Everyone just scattered,” Martinez said. “When officers got there people were fleeing everywhere. When people saw the plate glass window shattered, they thought a shot was fired.”
There were no injuries and no arrests, he said.
The people involved in the fight were gone when police arrived.
The mall remained open throughout, Martinez said.
