An armed suspect was wounded Friday morning in an officer-involved shooting in Covina.
The shooting occurred in the 4000 block of North Morada Avenue, west of Vincent Avenue, about 12:45 a.m., according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which was investigating the shooting.
The suspect was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, the LASD said.
Media reports said the suspect had started a fire in a nearby field, then used a shotgun to open fire on responding Los Angeles County firefighters before running off. He was later located in the backyard of a home on Morada Avenue holding the shotgun and a pole.
While in the backyard, he fired shots and tossed bricks and other objects at officers, ABC7 reported.
There were no reports of injuries.
