Armed man holed up in Maserati dealership in Santa Monica, SWAT on scene

SANTA MONICA — A man armed with a weapon was barricaded inside a Maserati dealership in Santa Monica early Friday morning in a standoff with police.

The standoff was taking place in the area of 18th Street and Santa Monica Boulevard, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Video from the scene showed SWAT officers and an armored vehicle at the location.

The incident began about 2:30 a.m., and the suspect was inside a vehicle in the Maserati dealership showroom, ABC7 reported.

Police asked residents to avoid the area and shelter in place.
