The crossing guard who was struck Monday, Sept. 16, in Valley Glen while helping children get to school, died hours later at a hospital, according to the coroner’s office.

Delia Huerta, a 57-year-old Sun Valley resident, was seriously injured around 7:20 a.m. when a silver sedan hit her while walking across the street in the 13400 block of West Vanowen Street in the Valley Glen area near Van Nuys.

Huerta was taken to a hospital, where she died about 10 hours later.

A teenage girl was also hit. She suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
