OC Deputies Arrest Knife-Wilding Suspect Following Five-Hour Standoff

by Contributing Editor

A 34-year-old man was taken into custody Monday evening following a more than a five-hour standoff with deputies in Laguna Hills.

The man began barricading himself in a house in the 25000 block of Costeau Street about 3 p.m., said Orange County sheriff’s Sgt. Dennis Breckner.

Deputies were “familiar” with the house as there have been calls for service there before, Breckner said.

The suspect had a conflict with his father and allegedly assaulted him with a knife, Breckner said.

Sheriff’s deputies made entry into the house and took him into custody about 8:30 p.m., Breckner said.
