Officials ID Man Killed in Hit And Run in Van Nuys; Motorist Sought

by Contributing Editor

Authorities Friday identified a man who fell onto a Van Nuys roadway after getting out of a moving vehicle, then was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver, who remains at large.

Manuel Eduardo Carrillo, 24, of Tarzana was fatally injured about 7:15 p.m. Thursday near Natick Avenue and Burbank Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

He was sitting in the passenger side of a Lexus, which was traveling westbound on Burbank Boulevard, when he exited the moving vehicle — why was unclear — and was struck by a light-colored sedan, which was also westbound, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The driver of the sedan didn’t stop to render aid, according to police.

A reward of up to $50,000 is available for anyone who provides information leading to the suspect’s identification and conviction.

Authorities do not have a detailed description of the sedan or hit-and-run driver, and they urged anyone with information on the case to call Valley Traffic Investigator Garcia at 818-644-8117, or during non-business hours, 1-877-LAPD-24-7. Those wishing to report anonymously can call 800-222-TIPS.
