Two teens were found with fatal gunshot wounds in a vehicle that crashed in the South Los Angeles area, and the shooter or shooters were at large Friday.
The victims were found about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 12200 block of Maple Avenue, said Deputy James Nagao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He said deputies from the Century Station were sent to the location on a report of a traffic crash.
“As the deputies responded to the incident, they received updated information indicating that the occupants involved in the traffic collision were also gunshot victims,” Nagao said.
Both teens had been shot in the upper body and were pronounced dead at the scene, he said.
The coroner’s office said the victims were in their teens, but could not immediately provide their ages. Their names were also withheld, pending notification of their relatives.
Nagao said a motive for the crime was not known, and no suspect information was available.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS. Tipsters may also download the “P3 Tips” Mobile APP on Google Play or the Apple App Store or use the website lacrimestoppers.org.
