Long Beach police sought public help to solve the killing of a young man who was gunned down early Thursday in a possible gang-related attack at an apartment complex.

James Magee, 23, of Long Beach was wounded about 12:30 a.m. in the 900 block of Obispo Avenue and died at a hospital, the Long Beach Police Department reported.

Magee was standing in the common area of the apartment complex when he was shot, police said. No description was available of the suspect or suspects, who may have fled in a vehicle.

Anyone with information on the crime was urged to call homicide detectives at 562-570-7244, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
