A man was in custody Thursday in the shooting death of his brother at their residence in Anaheim, police said.

Officers went to the 600 block of North Zeyn Street about 4 p.m. Wednesday in response to a report of a shooting, said Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer.

“Officers entered the house and found 45-year-old Anaheim resident Jose Leroy Hurtado suffering from at least one gunshot wound,” Carringer said.

Jose Hurtado was taken to a hospital, where he died, Carringer said.

Sergio Marcelino Hurtado, 36, was arrested at the scene and booked on suspicion of murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm, Carringer said.

Hurtado was in custody in lieu of $1 million bail, Carringer said.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
