A former rideshare driver has been sentenced to four years in state prison for sexually battering a female passenger nearly three years ago, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday.
Kamaru Deen, 37, was also ordered to register as a sex offender in connection with his no contest plea Tuesday to a felony count of sexual battery by restraint.
Deen pulled his vehicle over at the end of an arranged ride on Nov. 25, 2017, opened the door for the woman and then grabbed her and pressed her against the car, where he groped the victim and rubbed himself on her, said Deputy District Attorney Paul Thompson.
Deen left as the woman’s friends walked toward the vehicle. He was arrested two days later and has remained behind bars since then.
The case was investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
